In 1967, a young layperson (Samson) and the parish priest of the Church of St. Joseph (Fr. Laurent Le Guen) set up a make-shift studio in the parish house to record commentaries for slides and filmstrip programmes using an old tape recorder and radiogram. These programmes were shown to the people in the estates.

Three years later, St. Joseph's Audio Visual Centre was taken over by the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur, and a small studio was set up in Cardijn House, KL. In 1972, the Diocesan Audio Visual Centre became the Catholic Communication Centre. CCC was transferred to the Church of St. Anthony in 1973, and renamed Cahayasuara (meaning light & sound) in 1981. Thirty years later, in 1997, a permanent building was completed for the social communications apostolate in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.
