The AMEIA seeks to create an awareness among Catholics of the importance and means of ecumanical and inter-religious dialogue. We are also the official arm of the Archdiocese responsible for building bridges and promoting dialogue with other religious traditions, churches and ecclesial communities. To do this, the AMEIA has formulated three objectives:
1. To promote mutual understanding, respect and collaboration between Catholics, other Christians and the followers of other religious traditions;
2. To encourage the study of religions; 3. To promote the formation of persons dedicated to dialogue and ecumenism.

Mission: The Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute (API) is the formation and animation organ of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. The primary objective of the Institute is to provide relevant information and formation to the People of God to enable them to deepen their faith and to live as authentic Disciples of Christ. Its long term goal is the realisation of the vision of "A New Way of Being Church" through the transformation of our parishes into "A Communion of Communities". API aims to achieve this goal by:
1. Developing ministries of Pastoral Care, for all building of Basic Ecclesial Communities
2. Developing ministries of Mission Concerns for the promotion of Harmony, Justice and Peace
This is carried out at three levels:
I. at Archdiocesan Level (Pastoral Centre)
II. at District Level III. at Parish Level

Mission:
1. To prepare couples for Catholic Marriage and the vocation of Family life and love;
2. To review and update the Course content according to the local developments and the emphasis of the Church's Teachings on various aspects of Marriage and Family Life.
3. To collaborate in sharing resources towards facilitating presentation of the course in parishes/ districts;
4. To organise formation programmes for Course Presenters.

Through the publication of CANews (Catholic Asian News), a monthly magazine and IF (Information and Formation), a book consisting of a compilation of articles of interest to Christians, published periodically, the Catholic Research Centre has the following purposes:
- To bring about a critical awareness among Christians and others of their role in the Malaysian society in its socio-political, economic and religious contexts;
- To carry out research work on the history of Catholicism in Malaysia and on the current situation of the country;
- To enable to uphold in love the principles of truth, justice, equality and freedom.

Emmaus Centre offers face-to-face counselling, conducted on the premises, in strict confidentiality by trained counsellors. Prospective clients can make appointments by telephone or walk in during the hours the Centre is open from Mondays to Fridays, 7.30pa-9.30pa. The Centre is closed on public holidays and weekends.
