5-Day Integrated Course on SOCIAL COMMUNICATION FOR CHANGE
 26 - 30 JULY 2004 (9am - 5.30pm)

COURSE DETAILS:

PROGRAMME
The Course will cover 3 modules, consisting of 20 sessions, including a panel discussion. Submission of a project (relevant to the organisation/parish) is a requirement. The 3 modules are:
1. Analysis of Media & Communication;
2. Analysis of Media, Society & Culture; and
3. Production and Social Marketing.

FEE
The fee includes (a) meals & refreshments, (b) course materials, (c) file and stationery, and (d) expertise and experience of industry professionals and academics over 5 days. The fee is RM 800 only. Subsidies are available for participants who are unable to meet the course fee. Call for details.

RESOURCE PERSONS
Experts in various fields will facilitate sessions.

WHO CAN ATTEND
Organisation staff, seminarians, (aspiring) religious, lay auxiliaries and parishioners. Partiicipants are expected to have a minimum qualification of Form 5 and be conversant in English. They are also expected to be involved in Church and/or social development activities such as parish pastoral development, human development, welfare, media & communication, human rights, women issues, environment concerns, etc. A minimum working experience of one year is spreferred, though not a prerequisite. The participant is expected to put to use what is learnt in the course into the organisation or parish. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

PARTICIPANT LIMIT
To cater for project requirements and maximum class interaction, only limited places are available.

CERTIFICATION
This course is organised by Cahayasuara Communications Centre in collaboration with SIGNIS*. On completion of the course, a certificate of participation will be awarded during the SIGNIS ASIA meeting in Oct 2004.
 *SIGNIS is the World Catholic Organisation for Communication. The bi-annual meeting in 2004 will be hosted in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. It will be attended by Catholic communicators from 16 Asian countries.

ASIAN POSTER COMPETITION - WORLD COMMUNICATIONS DAY 2005
Deadline: 22 APR 2005 " VIEW PRIZES!

INTRODUCTION
 You are invited to take part in a Poster Competition in conjunction with World Communications Day (WCD) on 8 May 2005. The objective of the Poster Competition is to increase creativity and artistic participation in WCD. It is also to create greater awareness that posters are effective media of communication.

POSTER TARGET AUDIENCE
 Urban Adults (25-45 years old)

PARTICIPATION
 Open to all ages.

DESIGN SIZE
 A3 (11 1/2" X 16 3/4").

COLOUR
 Black & white, or Colour.

LANGUAGE
 English or Bahasa Malaysia.

FORMAT
 Design on A3 paper must be scanned as a digital file (jpeg, etc.)

SUBMISSION
 The digital file must be e-mailed to

GUIDELINES
 The theme reflection would be the guideline for conceptualizing and designing the poster.
